Ya os hable del museo nacional del aire y el espacio de Washington (http://diarioderutausa.blogspot.com/2013/07/jardin-botanico-y-museo-nacional-del.html), uno de los primeros museos que tuve oportunidad de visitar en USA. Pero hay mucho mas. Este museo esta compuesto por dos edificios: uno el de DC, el otro en Virginia, al lado del aeropuerto de Dulles. Juntos contienen la mayor coleccion de aeronaves del mundo y a pesar que el de DC es el mas famoso (y el mas visitado) el de Dulles no se queda atras. Digamos que este museo esta compuesto por todas las piezas que no ten'ian cabida en el de DC y dos piezas estrella: el pajaro negro y el transbordador espacial Discovery. La verdad que esta constituido por varios angares, como una especie de garaje gigante lleno de "cosas voladoras", pero si os gustan los aviones, cohetes y naves espaciales no debeis perderos este museo. Y si no, simplemente por curiosidad, no está de más una visita. La verdad es de lo más ameno.
El museo de Washington esta muy bien, de lo mas entretenido y variado, ademas nos ha servido para tomar ideas de cómo recorrer el mundo:) Es la segunda vez que lo visito y sin embargo me ha servido para descubrir cosas nuevas y darme cuenta de detalles que la primera vez hab'ia pasado por alto.
En cuanto al de Dulles... impresionante la cantidad de aeronaves que tienes alrededor y sobre tu cabeza. De verdad que no hay nada que puedas echar en falta. Además hay cine, donde proyectan pel'iculas y documentales sobre el espacio... ya no nos dio tiempo, pero seguro está genial.
Otro detalle, ya os he dicho, y no me canso de repetirlo, que estos museos son gratuitos. Lo unico que habr'ia que pagar es el parking en caso de que vayais al de Dulles; pero si llegais a partir de las 4 de la tarde, es gratuito:) Eso s'i, cierra a las 5.30, pero os da tiempo de verlo todo y si no, esperad a mayo, que entonces estar'a abierto hasta las 6.30 :)
I have already told you about the National Air and Space Museum of Washington DC (http://diarioderutausa.blogspot.com/2013/07/jardin-botanico-y-museo-nacional-del.html) , one of the fist museums I had oportunity to visit in the US. But there is much more. This museum is composed of two buildings: one in DC and other one in Virginia, close to Dulles airport. Together, they contain the biggest collection of airplanes in the world, and although the one in DC is the most famous (and most visited) the one in Dulles is pretty good, too. It has all the items that did not fit in the Washington branch, plus and two main pieces: an SR-71 Blackbird and the Space Shuttle Discovery. It is actually composed of diferent hangars, like a gigantic garage full of "flying things", but if you like planes, rockets, and space ships, you can't miss these museums. And if not, it is a good visit even if you are just curious. it is really enjoyable.
The museum in Washington is really good, really entertaining and varied, plus it has been really usefull for finding some ideas of how to travel around the world:) It was my second visit here but this time I could discover new things and notice details that I did not see the first time.
About the Dulles museum... the quantity of aircrafts that you have around you and over your head is impressive. Really nothing is missing. There is a cinema too, where you can watch movies and documentaries about space... we didn't have time , but I am sure it would be amazing.
Another detail, I already mentioned this, and I will be never tire of repeating it, all these museums are free. The only thing you have to pay for is the parking at the Dulles location; but if you arrive there after 4PM, it is free:) but they close at 5.30 PM, which is enough for seeing everything and if is not, wait until May, it will be open until 6.30 PM.
